late night, early morning

I actually got to bed early last night, around 9:30 pm, but was rudely awakened at 4:30 am.

Three guys, clearly intoxicated, decided to use the tree underneath my bedroom window as a spot to relieve themseves, while loudly discussing whether a girl one of them had gotten to know, S----, was "hot". They had finally decided she was "cute, but not hot" and then began to talk about what a good thing it was that nobody could hear them having this discussion, when I dragged myself out of bed to the window and plaintively requested that they take their conversation somewhere else.

At last they did, but then I couldn't get back to sleep, sad to say. Perhaps I should have just let them stay there so that I could find out more about their love lives. I'm pretty sure I know who they were, too.

oops

I washed my mobile phone with my laundry this morning.

Any advice on how I should treat it (besides tossing it out, that's not helpful, thanks)?

I was told by a random guy in the laundry room that I should let it sit for three days to dry and only then try to turn it on...

I can see soapsuds inside the screen. That's probably not good.

grumpy gals

Kedim is molting.

I am stressing.

The two of us make a great pair.

I just finished being sick (stomach flu all weekend long) and now I have a TON of reading that I didn't do when I was lying in bed curled up into a little ball.

At the moment I am blogging academically for HOS791, but I don't think you'll probably want to read that blog. It's really mostly for my co-classmate and me to discuss the week's reading.

I will be having a little tea party in my room on Thursday night for fun. 10 people have already RSVPed, so I hope they don't all come at once or I'm going to run out of mugs. I also need to think of little snacky things I can get to go with the tea...I'm out of digestive biscuits again.

power lunch with kedim

She's been chirping along with my music, which is a lot of fun. Especially when the song is something like Hoku's "Another Dumb Blonde".

This morning I tried to put a birdbath in there, and she accidentally fell into it while trying to scurry across the cage walls. She was very indignant about getting wet, sneezing and ruffling her feathers. As if *I* was the one who tossed her in there!

Yesterday I tried giving her fresh vegetables from the dining hall, and I took away her junk food (millet spray, high in fat). She wouldn't eat her veggies. I guess I can't blame her. I'd rather have high fat foods than veggies myself.

Last night I went to the D-Bar and chatted with some Canadian first-years over a glass of Shiraz. Then I tiptoed quietly back into the room a little after midnight, showered all the smoke away, and crept into bed. Just trying to make sure my roommate gets all the beauty sleep she needs...

benim Kedim

Murat drove me to go pick up Kedim, my new albino parakeet, from the Wings of Hope bird shelter in Jackson, NJ yesterday morning. She's still a bit nervous, and won't step onto my finger, but doesn't mind leaning on my finger or running over my finger on the way to somewhere else, so I'm hopeful.

It's so nice to have company.
