Santa baby

Well, I was wondering what kind of an organization would have the resources to track Santa. I guess it's heartwarming that they have the time to spare from tracking missiles to track something harmless.

Or maybe they're doing it just in case Santa turns out to be a terrorist too?

let it snow

Merry Christmas, everyone! I even have my very own fireplace (and chimney) this year!

This year a "secret Santa" sent me a nice warm Polartek fleece set:

I have also been spoiled with a pretty Bulova watch, and some waterproof boots, and some very nice comfy clothes from Sierra Trading Post...

I'm darkviolet. who are you?

you are darkviolet
#9400D3

Your dominant hues are blue and magenta. You're the one who goes to all the parties but doesn't quite fit in at every one... you know what you want, but are afraid of what the world might think of it. You're a little different and that's okay with them, and if you're smart it's okay with you too.

Your saturation level is very high - you are all about getting things done. The world may think you work too hard but you have a lot to show for it, and it keeps you going. You shouldn't be afraid to lead people, because if you're doing it, it'll be done right.

Your outlook on life is brighter than most people's. You like the idea of influencing things for the better and find hope in situations where others might give up. You're not exactly a bouncy sunshine but things in your world generally look up.

fooooooood

Spent most of yesterday shopping for food to eat during winter break while the dining halls are closed. I hope I didn't get too much. It has been so long since I went grocery shopping that I've kind of forgotten how to do it--how much I can actually eat in a reasonable amount of time, what things I need to replace (like olive oil), what order to eat things so that I have leftovers at reasonable intervals...

I got cheese and tomatoes and steak and prosciutto and portabello mushrooms and squash and pasta and brown sugar and orange juice and grapefruit and chicken pies and potatoes and onions and a new teapot and a food steamer. Haphazard shopping!

baby, it's cold outside

So I'm finally going to start blogging again after the very long silence of my first, stressful, term at Princeton.

Today's the day I put the History 500 blog out of its misery (it's the last day of class) and resuscitate my own blog. Somehow maintaining multiple blogs doesn't work for me.

All over the floor of my room there are piles of clothes that need to be sorted out and dragged to the laundry room. The bits of floor that are not covered with dirty laundry are covered with stapled copies of various things I read this semester that need to be filed away where they belong.

I'm very tempted to "file" everything from History 500 in the recycling bin, though.
